Pretty Little Mosaics

I’m Rachel Soley, the founder of Pretty Little Mosaics.  I started trading in February 2020.  I design and make mosaic gifts and artwork for your home and garden.  I live in Cambridge, UK with my family and overly demanding cats (you will notice they quite often pop up in my pictures and videos as they hate not being centre of attention!).

I love using upcycled china as the starting point of my work and giving old unloved plates a new purpose. 

 

I use a variety of china, including English vintage fine bone china, retro china, oriental china  and contemporary china. I mix the china with lots of different materials, like beach found pottery, ceramic work, glass beads, mirror, glass, cabochon, charms, millefiori and glass mosaic tiles. I am always on the look out for new materials to use, hunting materials out is half the fun and I enjoy creating pieces with a distinctive individual look. 

 

I love collaborating with other artists and I am very lucky that a number of talented people have let me use some of their ceramics in my work.  I find this so inspirational.  If you want to find out more about these artists and find out how to find their shops, please pop over to  this page to find out more.

I create my pieces to catch the light and shine.  I want my pieces to look different by day and night and create interest.  I love to create lots of detail so that there is always something new to notice in each piece; I guess my style is 'more is more'! 

 

Each piece is made with care and attention to detail and is unique.  From time to time I find a design is so popular that I make many more (like my Christmas robins and real sixpence Christmas puds)! I am always thrilled when something captures people's interest and I will then make more of a design, but each piece will still be different and have its own twist.

 

Most of my mosaics are ready to buy, occasionally there are also a few items I make to order - please check the expected dispatch time in the details on each item for more information on this.

I'm afraid I don't take commissions, as I don't have time to fit these in around other work and family commitments.  I try and restock my online shop regularly so there are new ready to go pieces available.  If you would like to know when new work is available please join my subscriber's list.  Thank you for visiting my site and I hope you enjoy looking around.
